Giles Parameter

The parameters used to model erbium doped fiber amplifiers. The Giles parameters are α(λ) the absorption spectrum per unit length, and g*(λ) the emission spectrum per unit length. These quantities are related to the erbium ion concentration (doping density) N0, overlap integral, Г(λ), and the radially averaged absorption and emission cross sections, σa(λ) and σe(λ).
